Family hits lottery jackpot for third time

OSLO, Norway (AP) - Luck can strike more than once.
A family from western Norway has hit the lottery jackpot for the third time in six years when the son won more than 12 million kroner ($2 million) earlier this month.
He added to the successes of his father and his sister, who had also picked seven correct numbers to bring in winnings of more than 8 million kroner each in 2006 and 2010.
The Norsk Tipping AS lottery company said Tuesday it has had cases when one person has won the lottery twice but that the teenager's recent success was Norway's first reported occurrence of three members of the same family separately winning the lottery.
The company was looking into working out the mathematical odds of the family's six-year lucky streak.

Coincidence; They all have a cousin on the lottery board!
Normally I think playing the lottery is a waste of money but if I could have their luck...! Occasionally I will get some scratch tickets but that's about it. Most I've ever won was $50 however I got $18 in scratch tickets for my friend's son's 18th birthday party and he won $427. Said that was the best birthday gift ever... then I told him that gambling is bad and he had to cash them in and never play again. :)
@Tattooed_Angel I think that they should teach Gambling Mathematics as a required part of the curriculum in High School. If you have the mathematics laid out before you and STILL want to play the lottery (gimme $5 "Hit5" and two "Powerballs.") or slot machines or KENO for cryin' out loud, then you can make an informed choice.Â
