COOS BAY, Ore. -- Police say there was no explosion in Coos Bay, just some peanut brittle on fire falling to the ground.

Authorities were called to the Tioga Building in Coos Bay Wednesday morning, after a kitchen mishap.

Captain Chris Chapanar from the Coos Bay PD says a gentleman was making peanut brittle in his apartment's kitchen when it caught fire.

The man said the flame jumped at his face and he threw the whole pan out the window.

It fell to the sidewalk below, and one person reported it sounding like an explosion.

Chapanar says the pan it was in shattered when it hit the ground.

Nobody was injured in the falling fiery peanut brittle incident, police said.
