Kennel Club: Labs still top dog in popularity
NEW YORK (AP) - The American Kennel Club says the Labrador Retriever is the nation's most popular dog for the 22nd straight year.
According to the AKC top 10 list released Wednesday, the German Shepherd still commands the No. 2 spot.
The Golden Retriever has nosed out the Beagle for the No. 3 rung.
AKC spokeswoman Lisa Peterson says larger breeds dominate the "pint-sized, portable pooch." But there are still some loveable lightweights on the list.
The Beagle is now fourth.
The rest of the pack: Bulldog, Yorkshire Terrier, Boxer, Poodle, Rottweiler and Dachshund.

I would like to post my favorite breed here, but there is one sitting right here, and I have no idea what he is, and he's not telling.Â
Every dog that I have ever had is my favorite breed. Full breeds and mixed breeds alike. At this moment, my Yorkie and my German Wirehaired Pointing Griffon are my favorite. And, yes, The Yorkie rules over the big guy, as Terriers tend to do.

For a being a lover, our 85 pound Golden Retriever (thinks he's a lap dog) has them all licked. If I were to go with intelligence, that would be our Irish Setter. The Skipper Key is the sneaky one, she's the wife's dog.

Labs and Golden Retrievers are the best dogs ever! I also love English Mastiffs and Rottweilers.

German Shepards are sketchy dogs that I do not care for AT ALL. I once seen a neighbor's German Shepard bite her 4 year old son unprovoked.
