WASCO, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A real estate agent brought a live hand grenade to the Kern County Sheriff's Office Wasco substation Tuesday afternoon.
The man, whose name was withheld, was inspecting a house when he said he discovered the World War II era grenade with the pin in place, the sheriff's office said. Not sure what it was, the real estate agent took the grenade to the sheriff's substation.
The substation was thrust into an emergency situation, and the bomb squad was called to safely detonate the grenade.
Sheriff's officials warned others to call 911 and avoid handling explosive devices themselves.

My first reaction was ... the paper bag sitting open on the bumper. Are they going to use THAT to carry a half-century old grenade? I'm sure there's some very different explanation but, as first reactions go ...
@Ben Ezzell See the Gatorade bottle next to it? It's probably his lunch.
Oh, that's right ... this was California ...
