SEATTLE -- A local sports fan says he had more than $40,000 worth of game tickets stolen from his car while he attended a Seattle Sounders game on Wednesday.

The man said he left the tickets in his car, which was in a parking garage in the 1500 block of Utah Avenue South, while he was at the game. When he drove home after the game, the man said he realized that ticket books containing $43,000 worth of Mariners, Sounders, Tacoma Rainiers and Anaheim Angels tickets were missing.

He called police at 1:18 a.m. to report the theft. Officers inspected the car and didn't find any signs of forced entry. They also searched the parking garage but didn't find any evidence in the case.

Police took a report on the theft and will notify the teams and arenas about the missing tickets.
