EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A dog who survived an 11-mile ride from Massachusetts to Rhode Island after being hit by a car and wedged into the grille has been reunited with its owners.
The owners, who weren't identified, told WPRI-TV it's a "miracle."
East Providence Animal Control supervisor William Muggle said the owners claimed "Suzie" on Tuesday after seeing news reports. Animal control tells The Providence Journal they had veterinary paperwork with the dog's microchip number.
Muggle said the female poodle mix ran in front of a car in Taunton, Mass., Sept. 20. The driver slammed on the brakes but didn't see the dog.
Muggle said another motorist noticed it when the driver reached East Providence. Animal control officers were able to free the fluffy white pooch, which suffered a concussion and minor injuries.

Leave it to a poodle. One gene short of a dog.
I guess I'd rather get sucked into a grill than get sucked under the tires...
I realize that to most people, dogs don't warrant any compassion but come on, if a dog runs out in front of your car and then you don't see it run away, GET OUT OF YOUR CAR AND CHECK !! Likely you hit it and it is under your car....oh but wait that would make you feel even more guilt when you leave it by the roadside dead or injured and go on your merry way.......the ignorance of people amaze me sometimes.
Getting caught in the grille probably saved the dogs life.
Don't miss watching the video. Â It's amazing how many things get stuck in grills and survive! Â Glad Suzie escaped with only minor injuries and hopefully she'll be contained so it doesn't happen again.
That's one Tough Puppy!!
Ouch! Lucky pup! That must have been a real tramatic experience. Glad she's gonna be alright.
If this had been a child, the driver would have been up for hit-and-run.
@JLS1950 That is a ridiculous statement. The driver stopped, did not see the dog (it was in the GRILL after all!) and continued on.Â
Lucky Dog... Glad to hear it is okay.
Wow, second animal in a grill. How does that happen? It's almost like they get sucked in.
