Man stole pot from police station, said it 'smelled so good'
CHARLEROI, Pa. (AP) - A western Pennsylvania man is accused of stealing a small bag of marijuana held as evidence because he allegedly couldn't resist the drug's aroma.
Authorities say that 27-year-old David Allan Thompson of Charleroi stopped at a police station Saturday night to offer police some unspecified information.
Police tell the Observer-Reporter newspaper that Thompson apparently stole the drugs while an officer was logging them into evidence after police had seized them that night.
Police confronted Thompson outside the station. They say handed over the drugs and confessed, saying, "I just couldn't help myself. That bud smelled so good."
Thompson faces a preliminary hearing Aug. 23. Online court records list no attorney for him.

We need to legalize all drugs. Â Our current policy is insane. Â It is a public health issue, not a criminal one.
he was SOOOO going to toke it up that night
Smelled go good. Obviously still under the influence from the last stash he sniffed out. LOL!
AÂ STIRLING example of how pot addles the brain and disrupts the cognative processes.
@Woodswalker
        Â
smoking does not determin if you are goign to steal or not..... I have NEVER stollen ANYTHING.....
@as a matter of fact  Didn't say it did..said it impairs the cognitive functions.Â
@Woodswalker You mean a sterling example? And fyi, addles isn't even a word. (I think you meant addled)
Â
There are many substances that impair cognative process. Alcohol, multiple varieties of prescription pills, pot... Are you anti-alcohol as well? Alcohol is the worst substances legally available. Alcohol causes roughly 2.5 million deaths per year worldwide. I tried to find similiar statistics on marijuana but was unsuccessful. Why do you think that is?
Â
The article didn't state that the man was high when he stole the pot so how do you know that his cognative process was disrupted and that's what caused him to steal the pot? You don't.
Â
Your comment is a STERLING example of someone uninformed/unknowledgeable jumping to conclusions.
Â
Â
lol thank you

@Woodswalker Selective and sophisticated? Thanks for the compliment!
Â
However, you sir are the one with no valid argument as you can not prove that the thief was under the influence at the time of his crime. Jumping to conclusions is not a valid argument.
Oh, You mean like Tattoed Angel's post? I see you are as selective and sophisticated as TA above...and Name calling. Oh MY........
Â
The sign of a mind with no valid argument.
Yeah.... pot's not addictive... another lie put out by potheads.
Pot is very addictive! When people are saying that they are not addicted (they really might not smoke, THAT much) is usually because they do not want to be judged by the non MJ smokers, if you ask me. I would say thatto maybe my mother that it is "not" addictive, maybe my doctor, maybe even a few other members of my so called life but dont think that potheads are denying the fact that the smoking and THC factor are not addictive. Why do you think people smoke it all day every day?? because they ARE addicted to it!!! the TRUE smokers know they are addicted.
@as a matter of fact As a "true" smoker, I am not addicted. I don't smoke everyday, only when I need to. I don't go through withdrawls when I don't have it and I certainly don't crave it.
Â
I know what addiction is. I used to be a cigarette smoker. When I didn't have cigarettes, it was all I can think about. I'd scrape together my last dime to get a pack of smokes. I was a nasty grumpy person when I didn't have any cigarettes and quitting was one of the hardest things I have ever done.
Â
Was I addicted to cigarettes, yes. Am I addicted to pot, no. Has pot led me to do any harder drugs, hell no!Â
@GeorgeG. Tell that to all the people who are in their 60's who used to smoke lots and lots of "grass" back when they were young. Ask them how addicted they were when they decided to stop using it and how hard it was to stop. They'll look at you like you're a complete and utter fool and say, "What addiction? I just stopped using it"   There is plenty of scientific data from credible sources that explains how cannabis is -not- addictive.Â
Come the day I hope it is that easy for all us smokers! lol
Â
Thanks on behalf of all us users for the positive post. :)
@GeorgeG. Have you ever smoked pot before? I use mmj for chronic pain for an old injury because of allergies I have to most pain medications. Because of my allergies, the doctors had tried me on every pain med out there to try to get me relief.
Â
Pot is the ONLY medication that has NOT been "addictive" and caused horrible side effects. I tried Vicodin before and only after a couple days of being on the medication I had absolutely HORRIBLE withdrawls! Cold sweats, insomnia, stomach pain... and even though I didn't like what the Vicodin did to my body, I still wanted more. THAT'S addictive.
Â
I have been a regular mmj user for about 2 years now and have NEVER had any withdrawl or addictive issues like I did with the pills. In fact, I go days without smoking/partaking in the mmj. I only use it when I need it. I don't HAVE to have it if I'm not in pain.
Â
Does it say in the article that the guy has an "addiction" issue and that's why he took the pot? No. He said it smelled good and he couldn't resist. Sounds like a self-restraint issue to me.
@Tattooed_Angel I am not a smoker myself, it gives me anxiety but I will agree with you that weed is 1000 times safer than pain meds, my dr had me on oxycodone for almost two years and getting off was one of the worst experiences of my life. I wish the MJ worked for me but it just makes me paranoid and on edge but i think it is great for people like you who it does work for.
@Tattooed_Angel  @Chitownhawksfan The last time i tried it I had a brownie before the Super Bowl and all i remember was sitting there thinking about stuff i normally would not think about and having this horrible anxiety. I could not focus one bit on the game. I have no problem with MJ or people who smoke it, eat it but for some reason it just does not mix well with me. I have a few friends who have told me after a few consecutive days the anxiety would go away but I cant bring myself to even try it again. I have tried it about 25 times in my life and have had the same reaction. I also do not think that it is addictive but i do have a friend who is a 10 times a day smoker and i know if he doesnt have any or has not for a while he gets extremely agitated and once he finally smokes he is much happier and relaxed. I have seen plenty of people including myself make a complete fool out of themselves or myself after too many drinks. All i have seen with people who have taken one too many puffs is they just sit there and dont say anything so I think there are far worse things out there than someone smoking some green.
@Chitownhawksfan I had the same issue with mmj at first. I think my mindset caused a lot of my paranoia. Once I learned to relax, I had a better experience. Plus different strains can cause different reactions. I find that I do better with Indicas, which produce a relaxed, body-numbing type high. Sativas cause an energetic high which seemed to exasperate the paranoia.
Â
However everyone is different. An option I would suggest would be to try a Cannabis Cap. There is less of a "high" and it still helps with the pain. I purchase empty capsules at my local pharmacy and make the caps myself. I just ground up the pot really fine and stuff the capsule. Works great for me.
Â
Good luck! I agree that marijuana is 1000 times safer than prescription pain pills however some people just don't understand. I would never wish chronic pain on anyone however if they were in MY position or yours, maybe they would see things differently.
Â
Â
Sounds like he's a natural. Maybe he could be trained to sniff out pot.
@Ben Ezzell And they say there are no good jobs in America. ;)
