San Francisco nudists sue to block proposed ban
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A group of San Francisco residents is suing the city to block a proposed ban on public nudity.
A lawsuit filed Wednesday in federal court in San Francisco claims an ordinance that city officials are considering would violate the civil rights of people who want to bare their bodies for personal or political reasons.
The Board of Supervisors is scheduled to vote on the measure next week. It would prohibit nakedness on city streets, sidewalks and plazas at all times except during permitted fairs and parades, such as the city's annual gay pride event.
Lawyer Christina DiEduardo filed the case as a dozen or so of her clients stood outside the courthouse in varying states of undress.
DiEduardo says the ban is too broad and would inhibit the free speech of nudists who can't afford a permit.

"If God had meant for us to be naked, we'd have been born that way." ~ Mark Twain
This is stretching "civil rights?" to the absolute maximum. What makes these people think that just because they want to bare it all the public at large should have to put up with their lifestyle choice? That's what it is a CHOICE not a right.
 @Jatok Your CHOICE is to want not to see them (close your eyes, okay). That has nothing to do with their rights and -- quite frankly -- unless you are deified, you can not grant anyone a "right". You can attempt to DENY someone's rights but you have nothing to grant.
@Ben Ezzell Well, if the courts can grant them the right to run around nude that must make the courts deified. Obviously we as a people have closed our eyes to any kind of morality in this country anymore. Just because these people want to run around naked doesn't mean they should be allowed to. What's next public rape?
You don't want to see most nudists. Trust me.
there arent... pictures... of this event are there?? :P
Nancy Pelosi is from San Francisco hopefully she is not a nudist. yuk!!!!!!!
Is there an issue with people walking around butt naked right now? If not, why change it?
What a stupid waste of taxpayer funds. If they want to be naked, do it on private property somewhere out of the public eye. Most people don't want to see your naked butts.
This here is the devils work. If'n the good Lord Jesus wanted us to parade around nekid we woulda been born that way.
@DrAmerika I was born wearing a suit... BWAAAHAAAHAAAA
If the nudies get their way I have a plan. I weigh 300# and am afraid to look at myself in the mirror. I will go to SF and walk proudly around Union Square and then to Fisherman's Wharf completely nude. I assure you there will be a public outcry to ban nudes at that point.Â
 @jdoll88 Dare ya
@SheilaKA We'll see. I may just take you up on your dare. Knowing the mindset of the city no one would even notice.
Kinda glad we don't allow people here to do that during the gay pride event. ;)
@Zoso As society crumbles more deeply into the abyss the time will come when parade participants will be able to expose their gayness. Additionally, I a see a parade float dedicated to the wholesome and natural techniques of oral and anal sex. Seattle and SF are not that much different. If anyone challenges me on this please google Folsom Street Fair in SF. A real family event for sure.Â
 @jdoll88  @Zoso "wholesome"
Sarcasm I hope.
@Gaikokujin @Zoso total sarcasm
I am shocked, yes shocked that this would be happening in San Francisco...not! Perv capital of the planet.
"Â Perv capital of the planet."
Seattle is fighting for a close second place....
@EASTSIDE 1 Second place,... I thought Seattle was clawing its way to first place #1!!!
P.S. They will get their way. How will this work in restaurants and grocery stores?
 @jdoll88 The rule is "No shirt, no shoes, no service". Doesn't say anything about pants.  ;-D
 @jdoll88 the proposed ban is in public places. Restaurants and grocery stores are covered by different laws.
@Jalharad Oh well then that makes everything just fine! :)
