Sweden: Foreigner angered over gray Santa outfit

STOCKHOLM (AP) — Police in Sweden had to intervene after a foreign visitor to a spa and conference center grew angry because a visiting Santa Claus was wearing a gray instead of red costume.
No one was arrested during the incident in Vallsta, some 300 kilometers (180 miles) north of Stockholm, early Tuesday.
But police said in a brief statement that the foreign guest grew agitated over the Santa outfit and argued with the center's staff. They did not say where the foreigner was from.

Santas Reds were in the wash
The bigger question: why does Santa wear "away" colors when visiting Sweden?
When in someone else's country, do NOT make snap judgements. Oy!
Seattle Santa should wear grey, very fitting.
As any good Norwegian knows, leave it to the swedes to mess up Santa!
Guess he goes on the "Naughty" list for next year.
Santa can wear whatever he wants!! Because he's Santa!
Just when I thought we were actually gonna ge thru the season without some jackass making a rucus over something completely stupid. Altho this is so petty, it doesn't even seem newsworthy.
Xanax, stat.
Could be Finnish, Norwegian, Danish, German...who knows.Â
Why get upset over something so small and petty? I don't want to say that the foreigner was from the U.S. but by the reaction, I'm guessing they were. People do different things in different countries, its called culture, I wish it was taught more in this country. (By the way, my children are constantly learning about other cultures, because through me, they wanted to.)
@yentaleh Agreed. Just look at Santa in Germany and other European countries. They are not the bright red we have here in the U.S.
"The modern American version of the suit can be attributed to the work of Thomas Nast for Harper's Weekly magazine (in 1892), although it is often incorrectly thought that Haddon Sundblom designed the suit in his advertising work for the Coca-Cola Company."  --Wikipedia
Â
This is how myth is perpetuated in America. Madison Avenue at its best.
What kind of person gets so worked up over Santa Claus that the police need to become involved? I'm hoping that the person was drunk.
An ugly American would be my first guess, meaning a dim-witted, ill-mannered, un-educated clod. Â But we don't hold all those titles just in America! Â
