Swimmer's belly button ring gets caught on drain
GREELEY, Colo. (AP) — Firefighters in Colorado say a woman's belly button ring became entangled with a drain cover in a shallow splash pool but that she was freed without injury.
Authorities say the woman became stuck Wednesday as she floated on her stomach with her child in a shallow pool at the Greeley Family Funplex.
Firefighters tried to turn the ring to free her but then started to drain the pool while working to manipulate the ring.
They said Thursday that she eventually was freed and she wasn't hurt in the process.

One would think if you have protruding objects of some nature attached to your body anywhere you would be mindful of grates and drains and things that can snag said items. Lord knows Iâm not even comfortable walking over a grated area on a street. Yet alone if I was swimming in a pool and had such a piercing by a drain.
I think stupid breeds stupid. Belly rings are not attractive and scream out "I'M STUPID and a follower!!!" This person got exactly what they deserved.
That is something I would not have expected to happen...I'm sure she is already having lawyers knocking on her door saying hey... I can get you money NOW... you feel embarrassed.. and hurt by that mean drain cover company.. SUE THEM!...
This is news? Cmon KOMO?!? At least the blogs are funny
Nose ring would have been a lot quicker.
 @Klondiko LOL........for sure...lol...
FUTURE DARWIN AWARD WINNER...
Makes you wonder why someone didn't just go get a pair of wire cutters and cut away. Â Seems like it would have been faster and easier. Â But what do I know.
At least it wasn't a nipple ring... Â Although that would've made it more amusing for firefighters I suppose.
@DudeAbides I was stationed in Pensacola for my A-School back in 04. I was working barracks desk duty while waiting for orders and one morning had to escort a female Marine to base medical because she overslept and didn't have time to take out her nipple rings (not allowed btw) before morning PT. They were doing low crawls....that had to hurt.
Just waiting to read about the lawsuit she will end up filing because the drain cover was not properly designed to avoid catching belly button rings.
 @Surveyor1 That was my first thought. How sad.
That's nothing. I jumped off the Empire State building once and caught my eyelid on a flag pole. Walk it off.
@MikeCoomer So thats where you broke your leg and had your lil scooter?
 @SilverGryphon Yeah, having my foot reconstructed was all a coverup for the eye lid thing. Still miss that scooter and trying to do wheelies on it in the shop.
Â
 @MikeCoomer Stud!
@MikeCoomer - DYING LAUGHING.....!! :o)
Â
 @MikeCoomer That was YOU? ;-)
Lawsuit in 3....2....1...
Lawsuit? For her stupidity? Too bad she wasn't wearing a ring a little below her belly button - that would have definitely hurt.
Dang! Just thinking about that hurts my snarglies.
Yeah, never worth it for me to mutilate myself with that crap. Guess I got another reason.
