Victorious NJ 'tanning mom': 'People suck' and she's moving
NUTLEY, N.J. (AP) - A New Jersey woman widely known as "the tanning mom" is celebrating a grand jury's refusal to indict her on a charge she unlawfully let her 5-year-old daughter into a tanning booth.
Patricia Krentcil addressed reporters outside her Nutley home Tuesday night by yelling: "cha-ching!" Prosecutors announced earlier in the day she no longer faced a child endangerment charge.
She says her life has been "a living hell" and she plans to move to London for a year to decompress while her husband and kids stay in New Jersey.
Krentcil became a tabloid sensation because of her own deep tan and professed love of tanning. She says "tanning is not a crime" and she'll keep at it.
Asked what she learned from the whole episode, she replied, "People suck."

I don't know this woman, but I wish people would stop bashing her. Many people suffer from addictions. There are many different kinds. Some are harmful, some are not. Hers happens to be excessive tanning. It's harmful doing it to the extent she is. (I would guess even half what she does is harmful.) I sure hope she gets the help she needs to stop. If she doesn't have skin cancer now, she will someday...Probably sooner than later.  :(
I'd rather be Western Washington pale and have healthy skin any day over what she's done to herself. I'd say she looks like she's in her 70's or later...but the women I know who are in that age range look way healthier than she does. They have wrinkles, but it's the natural, soft wrinkles that just happen. She looks like a wet rag that was crushed into a ball, dried, then pried apart.
What she needs is help. She obviously has some kind of addiction or disorder that prevents her from seeing the harm she's doing to her health and her family. Â
She's 44? Â WOW, she looks about 70. Â Yes, please leave the country. Â Thank you.

She literally looks older than my 'elderly' friends, one of which is 82, the other is 74!
She is right. People in general do suck and the media doesn't help.

Now that's a stable family. Mom runs off to Europe and leaves Dad and kids here as if she's the only one who went through the 'living hell'...

How old is this "tanning mom" really? Because her "natural" untanned hide makes her look like she's 70. At the very least, some scary creature left over from the Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Her "tanned" skin-I have a couch about the same color. Color works better on my sofa. That's not a "deep tan" honey. That's overdone and killed.
If she's leaving for that reason, maybe she sould go to North Korea with Rodman. She just proved even more that her tanning fried her braincells more than her skin. The only people who suck more that her is the AP for reporting this.
She is exactly the same color of my Thomasville leather couch. On the sofa it looks good.

Hopefully she is moving close to an Oncologist to treat her impending skin cancer... dummy.

I can't wait for a few years from now when she is back in the news for suing some tanning bed manufacture for giving her melanoma.Â
London? If she wants to be so tan, you'd think she'd move somewhere sunnier..... I really wish she would have taken a lesson from all this.  Her behavior and choices are ridiculous. She has tanned to the point of looking like she is 60, she will probably get skin cancer, and what a lesson by example to teach her kids. She needs to stay away from the tanning booths and get some serious psychiatric help.

This is just selfish! Running off to London for a year to "decompress"...leaving your husband and kids behind, because of your own actions? That is SO completely selfish, just as her tanning obsession is. There is a beautiful young woman who has been in the news because she's dying of melanoma after tanning. She is making a point of reaching out and sharing her experience and mistake to try and help other young women. And there's this lady. She shouldn't be running away from her family, she should be turning to them for help and getting professional help.Â
