Capitol Statues
One of Hawaii's two scuplture in the state collection, the other being King Kamehameha, is Father Damien, the Belgian Catholic missionary who devoted his life to helping Hawaii's natives who suffered from diseases brought to the islands by foreign traders and sailors, at the Capitol in Washington, Tuesday, July 2, 2013. The bronze statue of Father Damien by Marisol Escobar is in a corridor in the House of Representatives, off the regular tourist path. (AP Photo/J. Scott Applewhite)
