Transplant a sign of progress for girl with unmatched spirit
Kajmere Houchins By KOMO Staff
SEATTLE -- A little girl battling leukemia whose smile and upbeat attitude touched so many viewers is getting some good news.
We first told you about 9-year-old Kajmere Houchins in October when we reported about her wish list of things she wanted to do before she dies. Two weeks ago, Kajmere had a bone marrow transplant, and her family tells us things are looking good. It will be a little while before they know if the transplant worked, but doctors say she has surpassed their expectations so far. Her screams of joy when she found out she'd get a chance to briefly leave the hospital for a ride in AIR 4 was one of those moments that's hard to forget, so if you haven't already seen the first story you can watch it online right now. Kajmere expects to go home from the hospital in March, and we'll keep you updated on how she's doing. |
