Kind hearts help family of boy fighting cancer
BOTHELL, Wash. -- Kris Brauns and her son,Brandon Brauns, are finally getting their front window replaced.
It may seem like a simple task, but for the two, it's not the easiest thing to do. Then again, a lot of things are not easy for mom and her son.
Ten-year-old Brandon Brauns has cancer. The tumors in his head are growing faster than doctors can treat them.
And the last thing they need is vandals throwing rocks through their window. But it happened last Sunday.
"Who could have done this? Why did somebody do this?" said Kris Brauns.
Brandon Brauns doesn't have much time. His mom recently left her job to be with him around the clock.
"He's been through a lot, and that's why I'm so happy that I can just be home to just hang out with him and take care of him," said Kris Brauns.
Patrick Johnson of Washington Window and Door heard about the Brauns' troubles.
"I saw that Brandon and his mom, Kris, needed some help with the vandalism," Johnson said.
Johnson's company replaced the broken window for free while Brandon Brauns kicked back in his favorite chair and took in the show.
After a few adjustments here and there, the window slid right into place.
"We feel blessed," said Kris Brauns.
Kris Brauns helps run a nonprofit organization that benefits kids battling cancer.
In addition to the window replacement, Washington Window and Door wants to organize a fundraiser for the Brauns.
