SEATTLE -- A Rochester teen critically injured in a fiery car accident got a special visit from the Sea Gals, who showed up after the KOMO 4 Problem Solvers made a special request.

Andy Sommer got rear-ended in his Jeep by a semi-truck while he waited to make a left at Highway 12. The jeep flew forward and collided head-on with a pickup, then burst into flames.

Off-duty firefighter Travis Crear just happened to be nearby, and pulled Sommer from the car before he burned to death. The 17-year-old has been recovering in Harborview Medical Center's intensive care unit since the collision on October 29.

On Thursday, two of the Sea Gals came bearing gifts, including a range of Seattle Seahawks gear.

Andy played football for his high school in Rochester, and his entire family are huge Seahawks fans. Family members say it truly helped lift Andy's spirits as he makes a difficult recovery.

The Sea Gals stayed with Andy for nearly an hour. Andy's brother says there is talk of one of the Seahawks players also paying a visit in the coming weeks, but so far there are no firm commitments.

Andy has already undergone one surgery where doctors grafted skin onto his hands. He returns to surgery in a few days for more skin grafting to the back of his head and neck.

The Problem Solvers want to help Sommer and his family. If you want to get involved, you can make a donation to the Problem Solvers fund.
