AUBURN, Wash. -- Police are looking for a racing bike that someone swiped from a Special Olympics athlete.

Hyium Lindsay says thieves broke the lock and took off with his custom-made bike from outside the Auburn Fred Meyer, where he works.

The $1,500 cycle was equipped with special shocks and other equipment.

Lindsay says he'd like to confront the thief.

"I would tell him 'Why would you do a crappy thing like that?' And I'd tell them it's not nice and made me a little upset at them," he said.

Lindsay has been competing in the Special Olympics' cycling competition since 1998. He and his family are trying to come up with enough money to replace the cycle before the next games in March.

If not, the Special Olympics will lend him one.

If you'd like to help Lindsay, you can donate through the KOMO 4 Problem Solvers page.
