SEATTLE -- An island getaway for $99?!

The San Juan Islands are temporarily slashing prices, trying to lure visitors this month.

"I've lived there many years and never seen deals like this," said Robin Jacobson.

Yes, Jacobson is paid to promote the San Juan Islands, but it might pay to listen this month.

"Roche Harbor in summer is often sold out and they have some really low deals for May and for June," she said.

The Roche Harbor Resort is offering a sweet deal on suites that usually pull $399 per night.

"May is $99 for luxury suite and $149 for condo or cottage," said Jacobson.

Friday Harbor is celebrating its centennial by lowering hotel rates.

"There's lots of lodging deals called 'centennial deals,' and the Best Western Friday Harbor has King Suites for $100 a night," Jacobson said.

And several hotels have a sweet deal: book a room and they'll lower the price of your ferry ride -- "about a $56 savings, according to Jacobson.

Ferry over to Orcas Island and the Outlook Inn offers two nights for the price of one. And this month, you can save up to 75 percent when you rent a vacation home.

"On Orcas Island, Cherie Lindholm Real Estate is offering private homes for as low as $150 a night," said Jacobson.

Hotels hope these May and June bargains are enough to lure you.

The May specials apply to Sunday through Thursday bookings. Prices will bump up on weekends, but not to summer peak rates.
