Court says post office must do better by Gamefly
WASHINGTON (AP) - A federal court says the U.S. Postal Service must come up with a better solution to its questionable pricing structure affecting Gamefly's video game DVDs and Netflix's movie DVDs.
Gamefly must pay extra to mail its rental DVDs because they can be damaged by automatic mail sorting systems for first-class mail. But DVDs sent by Netflix Inc. don't go through the automated sorting process and it doesn't pay extra for hand-sorting. Gamefly was denied the same treatment and sued.
The Postal Regulatory Commission agreed that the practice was wrong, but came up with a scheme to make it cheaper for Gamefly but still force it to pay more than Netflix. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit overturned the commission and sent the case back.

The post office needs to come up with better service period!
 @swansong68 About a year ago Consumer Reports sent packages via the USPS, UPS, and FedEx with drop meters in them. USPS showed the least number of drops with the smallest shocks on the meters. I don't know what your gripe is with the postal service. We get mail within two days from California and 3 days from the East coast.Â
 @jcman Have to agree with you ,,, sold on ebay for 4 years and used USPS exclusively. One claim for item not received and 3 for damage. I sold and shipped hundreds of packages. Did have one item shipped to Spokane that went to San Diego first.
 @Snoop  @jcman That reminds me of the guy that was checking his three bags at the airline counter and said, "I want this bag to go to LA, this one to Chicago, and this one to Miami." The counter person says, "We can't do that, sir." The guy says, "Why not? You did it last week."
 @jcman My gripe is I can't get a letter from SODO to downtown Seattle that doesn't take over week. I get mail returned with perfectly good addresses and constantly get other peoples mail. I am sure that service is better in some parts more than others but, my service from my office is horrid.Â
 @swansong68 That is the pits.
