Obama campaign now accepting donations via text
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama's campaign is taking donations via text message.
Both Obama and rival Mitt Romney as are accepting text contributions as a way to tap small-dollar donors. The Federal Election Commission has given the practice a green light.
To give to Obama, mobile users on most cell carriers can text "GIVE" to 62262 and give up to $50, and the charge will appear on the user's phone bill.
Campaign manager Jim Messina says text donations will help the campaign engage more grassroots supporters "who want to play a role by donating whatever they can afford to the campaign."
Supporters can contribute a maximum of $200 via text per election cycle.

That headline is kind of like saying "Democrats are now using soap" as if the other side is not.
This is what the office of The President of the United States has come too? Texting for dollars? How proud they must be. Why not toss some Ads up on Craigslist? Just sad.

The whole mess of electing a President any longer is nothing more than an auction.
The amount of money being used in these elections is getting obscene and the worst part of it is that mud slinging seems to be costing more every election. This is the job they want and so perhaps they should put
"THEIR" money where their mouth is. It seems ironic that we are paying a man to run this country and just about one year out of every four is spent going around the country and raising funds to keep the job he isn't
doing during that time frame.
I love how the article only gives the number for Obama. Biased much, KOMO/AP? It wouldn't be so bad if you at least tried to make it not obvious......that being said this is just sad, for either side. So much money pi**ed away on the next person to sit in the chair for 4 years and not do anything to fix the problems and just point the finger at the other guy.
Come on guys, lay off of OBAMA. Â He is doing what he knows-covertly taking money any way possible. Â Stick with what you know mr prez--rip off the people who supported you.
Romney's collecting donations via text as well...love how they failed to mention that in the headline of the story and only gave info about donating to Obama!

Wake up people...if Obama gets another 4 years this country is screwed in a big way!
Bottom line...Obama was never qualified for the job and the last 4 years prove it! Hopefully this country will wake up and realize that you are much better off if you work hard rather than live off the government. Most of the Obama supporters are doing just that...standing in line for their Obama dollars! My blood, sweat and tears so they can be lazy. No ones keeping anyone down...they CHOOSE to stay there. They're probably using their welfare dollars, from our taxes, to send in their campaign donation via text message!
