Renewed doubts about Instagram's future under Facebook

SEATTLE – Is the fate of the popular smart phone photo sharing app Instagram already sealed?
Rumors have been swirling since Facebook acquired the small startup company for $1-billion earlier this year.
Today Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg was asked about Instagram in the wake of his company’s first earnings report since going public.
"Most of our acquisitions are for talent, and Instagram fits in with that sort of acquisition," said Zuckerberg.
In May Facebook released its own photo sharing mobile app. To date, that app has failed to garner much love from critics or users.
However shortly before Facebook announced its earnings, Instagram issued a statement saying it had passed the 80-million user mark. That news comes less than three months after Instagram announced it had passed the 50-million user mark.
Still when the news that Instagram was being acquired broke, the Associated Press reported that Facebook was seriously considering closing the photo sharing app sometime this year.
The Facebook photo sharing app for the iPhone - SUCKS. Absolutely, completely SUCKS. For example, if you upload multiple pictures to your Facebook account (one of the alleged perks of this application) you cannot move them to a photo album, they are trapped in your mobile folder forever. You use to be able to move them before a recent, ehem, update patch was pushed out. I figured it would be fixed by now - nope.

I simply stopped using the app.
@Howard Beale Are you sure you can't move the pics to other albums? I do that all the time. Go to the album, click Edit Album, hover the cursor over the picture and click the little down arrow on the right side of the picture, then click "Move to other album."
@Illuminati 1000% sure. When I hover over the image uploaded using the Facebook iPhone tool, I get no option to "move" anymore. Just delete and edit. Go to edit, no option to move. I figured a glitch in the matrix (pun intended) and went back to check and see if this was addressed for a couple of weeks. No joy. I've given up. Firefox latest edition is the browser I'm using. No different experience on IE 9.x or Chrome.
@Howard Beale That's really strange. I just uploaded a photo to FB using their iPhone app, loaded up the web site on my computer using Chrome, and moved the photo from Mobile Uploads to a different album.
