Phoenix Jones on SNL

During an interview on Monday, January 10, 2011, "Phoenix Jones" recounts the attack that left him with a broken nose.

He’s Seattle’s most famous superhero, and it seems almost everyone has an opinion on Phoenix Jones.

We first reported on him back in November, before he started receiving national and international attention from news organizations like Good Morning America, The Huffington Post, and The Telegraph.

Over the weekend, Saturday Night Live poked fun at him because of an incident where he received a broken nose. Weekend Update anchor Seth Meyers joked, “so it seems evil has figured out Phoenix Jones’s only weakness: weakness.”

You can watch the SNL clip here. (You’ll find the Phoenix Jones reference at 39:19)

But today we received an email from a woman upset about the negative attention and jokes about Phoenix Jones and his fellow superheroes. Randi C. says Phoenix helped save her when her car broke down. She wrote:

“I've been seeing a lot of negative things being said about Superhero, Phoenix Jones. I would just like to say that I am thankful for him and his entourage. Last Night my car tire popped on the way home, leaving me stranded on the freeway alone at 3am. Phoenix Jones and Red Dragon Pulled over and changed my tire in the rain and had me on my way in a matter of minutes. I really appreciated that. They aren't just causing problems and putting themselves in danger. They are helping, and in some cases, helping people like myself get out of danger. I thank them for being good Samaritans.”

Randi also sent us these photos.

So what do you think? Is Phoenix Jones a real superhero? Would you want him to show up if you needed help?
