Groupon Super Bowl ads: Offensive?

Groupon CEO Andrew Mason has posted his explanation of why the company ran its Super Bowl ads on the Groupon blog.
ORIGINAL POST: If you watched Twitter last night, it seemed more of the conversation was about the commercials than the actual game.
But one set of ads seemed to shock and offend much more than any of the others. The Groupon ads started out looking like innocent PSAs, but quickly turned into something many found appalling.
The ad about Tibet received the most criticism. Here's an example of an angry Tweet:
"Dear @Groupon - over a million Tibetans have been killed during Chinese occupation. Your ad wasn't funny." There is also anger in China today, as users took to the internet to complain about the insensitivity.
