Spotted on 520: Cool old patrol cars

By Travis Mayfield

Driving east across the 520 bridge Sunday afternoon we found ourselves following three classic police cruisers.

In the lead was a vintage Seattle Police patrol car.  We couldn't get close enough to snap a good picture or for me to get a good look at the make/model.

However following the SPD car was a vintage King County Sheriff's patrol car.  We did snap a picture as we followed it, but I'm a bit fuzzy on the make/model (maybe someon can jump into the comments thread and help?).

Then the third and final car was what you see above in the picture.  It's a Plymouth Washington State Patrol cruiser.  This car brought back memories for me.  I'm the son of a cop and one of the first patrol cars I remember my dad driving was a big old Plymouth like that one.

@wastatepatrol tweeted me to say this about that Plymouth,"Yes. Great work by the Seattle Police Museum. Accurate down to the radio console & original license plates."

A commenter on our Bellevue KOMO story about the cars adds, "They were taking part in the Gay Pride Parade in downtown."

I don't know where these cars were headed, still it was fun to drive the highway right beside them for a few minutes!
