SEATTLE -- Karl Rove says that's not the Scott McClellan I know.

Nor I, says Ari Fleischer, along with a whole host of current and former white house folk.

For half a dozen years, McClellan was the press secretary who served as front man and defended President Bush on everything from the war in Iraq to Hurricane Katrina.

White House insiders knew him well.

Now they claim to know him not at all.

McClellan's new book is said to peel back the facade of the Bush administration with damning accusations and stinging analysis.

It's not that McClellan's book reveals anything shockingly new.

It's strength lies in him being the one to validate what critics have long been saying.

Which leaves the presidential minions frantically scrambling to destroy the credibility of a former White House insider whose very credibility was a key to keeping the president in good public standing.

As for the 28 to 30% of Americans who still inexplicably support Mr. Bush, rather than being embarrassed by McClellan's book, they need only hear the president say "God Bless America" in order for them to line up and ask for another cup of Kool-Aid.

Seems this isn't the Scott McClellan they know either.

Have something to say to Ken? E-mail him at kenschram@komo4news.com.

And be sure to join Ken, along with John Carlson, on "The Commentators", which airs every weekday from 3-6 p.m. on AM 570 KVI.

It's a lively exchange of information, insight and perspective with two guys who don't agree on much, but still manage to enjoy each other as they tackle issues of the day. Even better, callers are invited in on the verbal action.
