The Schrammie: State GOP vs. Constitution again

By Ken Schram

SEATTLE -- All they want to do is scrub 200 years of American history.

And it also means they want to toss out a chunk of the U.S Constitution.

So if State Republican Party Chairman Luke Esser would stop tossing little Hispanic babies back across the border, I'd like him to come on down.

Last weekend, state Republicans decided that immigrant infants born in the United States shouldn't automatically be citizens.

Well, actually it's OK if the baby's parents have permission to be here, but if mom sorta snuck across the border from say Mexico, then Republicans figure the baby's powdered butt should be kicked back to points south of Ensenada.

If this all sounds vaguely familiar to you it's because the state GOP passed a similar platform back in ought-six.

Then, as now, that pesky 14th amendment stands in their way.

But hey, state Republicans figure America's Constitution is just another obstacle for them overcome.

Anyway, for political pettiness that defies description and for displaying a vindictive mentality that targets newborn babies take a bow Luke, because this "Schrammie", born in china if you will, is for you.

And be sure to join Ken, along with John Carlson, on "The Commentators", which airs every weekday from 3-6 p.m. on AM 570 KVI.

It's a lively exchange of information, insight and perspective with two guys who don't agree on much, but still manage to enjoy each other as they tackle issues of the day. Even better, callers are invited in on the verbal action.
