I’ve got to say, I was genuinely underwhelmed by those who e-mailed me to disagree with my commentary on how poorly Seattle deals with the homeless. (Read earlier commentary
at this link.)
Terrance Pausche writes: "Way to go Ken! Let’s make Seattle a mecca for every transient in America. ... How about you setting an example for the rest of us by taking ... some of the poor and wretched into your own home?"
Jim Larsen: "I have a great idea for the homeless. Get a job! We live in a country rife with opportunity. There is absolutely no excuse for long term homelessness in ... America. Period."
Mitch Mularz: "If Seattle stopped being a magnet for the homeless by withdrawing taxpayer support, you would be surprised at how fast they would move ..."
Jared Reinfeld: "A majority of the homeless make no effort to work or clean themselves up other than making a few dimes here and there to get some malt liquor."
Jeff Kohloff: "Why do you think encouraging and rewarding bad behavior with free housing will solve anything?"
And finally, from Adam Whistoff: "They made their own bed. Let them lie in it.
"
You’re correct Adam, otherwise why would God have made cardboard.
Thanks for writing, everyone.
Hope you have a great weekend.
