Ken Schram: God's a busy Guy, so quit bugging Him

By Ken Schram

SEATTLE -- The Bible says Jesus turned water into wine.

Any chance He might turn that H2O into gas?

That may not be the main objective of Rocky Twyman, but I'm sure Rocky wouldn't mind such miraculous intervention.

Rocky's a Seventh-day Adventist who's been organizing a group prayer movement at gas stations from Washington D.C. to San Francisco.

Far be it for me to tell people what they should be praying for, but at the same time I can't help but ponder the level of arrogance displayed by folks who think that God's got nothing better to do than tune into their comparatively petty complaints about how much it costs to fill up their SUV's.

I put this right up there with those selfish souls who implore the Almighty to help them win the lottery, or who fall to their knees during the 5th race at Emerald Downs in hopes their 20-to-1 shot hits the finish line first.

If I were presumptuous enough to assume what God's response would be to Rocky Twyman and his praying band of gas bags, It would probably be something along the lines of this: I'm not your heavenly bellboy, buster.

Take a hike.

And be sure to join Ken, along with John Carlson, on "The Commentators", which airs every weekday from 3-6 p.m. on AM 570 KVI.

It's a lively exchange of information, insight and perspective with two guys who don't agree on much, but still manage to enjoy each other as they tackle issues of the day. Even better, callers are invited in on the verbal action.
