Ken's E-mails: Maybe God does care about the price of gas

By Ken Schram

SEATTLE -- Is God standing by to lower the price of gas?

I poked at the guy who has been organizing a petty prayer movement at gas stations from Washington D.C. to San Francisco. (Read earlier commentary at this link.)

I got poked at in return from folks who essentially said I had no faith.

Rick Slater writes: "God will determine what is important and why. Not you (Schram)."

Jeff Calderwood: "Might I suggest some theology classes at a good evangelical school?"

Shirley Wainright: "To those of any faith who want to pray for the little things (including the price of gas) that will help themselves and their families, more power to them!"

Sidney Weiss: "Perhaps you might need to take a lesson from Jesus and try (at least) pretending that you care a little bit."

Mollie Poisel: "Where do you get off confining God's love for mankind with your petty, selfish portrait of God?"

Bob Frantz: "Well Schram, now you've confirmed it. You are a heathen."

And finally, from Hank McDonald: "Oh ye of little faith...Maybe this praying for gas thing has traction because these good Christians deserve it."

Well Hank, now that you've made it clear that the prayers are just for Christians to get cheaper gas, I do get it.

Thanks for writing everyone.

Have a great weekend.

And be sure to join Ken, along with John Carlson, on "The Commentators", which airs every weekday from 3-6 p.m. on AM 570 KVI.

It's a lively exchange of information, insight and perspective with two guys who don't agree on much, but still manage to enjoy each other as they tackle issues of the day. Even better, callers are invited in on the verbal action.
