Ken's E-mails: Low in number, but fierce in disdain

SEATTLE -- While not large in number, they are fierce in their disdain.

My commentary poking at the people who whine about the Blue Angels provoked some e-mail diatribes that were chock full of low regard for the Navy's elite aerobatics team. (Read earlier commentary at this link.)

James Culbertson writes: "The Blue Angels sonic signature...has helped me to appreciate what it must be like to live in Iraq and Afghanistan. They get such enjoyment every day."

John Patrykus: What I…care about is the mentality that tells you and our government (that) it’s O.K. to spend our money in such a wasteful manner. What's it cost to bring the gang here?

Michael Johns: "So, the Blue Angels are deafening, polluting, child and pet terrorizing war machines that cause gridlock and cost many thousands in taxpayer money. And what was the good part of it again? I am so over these guys."

Frank Hanstick: "How much 'poetry in motion' would (there be) if you watched those aircraft to what they were designed...to do...Maybe you'd enjoy it as the...bombs glide downward before they hit a school...How about the poetry in motion of human body parts dancing in the air?"

Frank, if that's what you see when the Blues tumble and turn in precision over Lake Washington, you are one sick little puppy.

Thanks for writing everyone.

Have a great weekend.

Have something to say to Ken? E-mail him at kenschram@komo4news.com.

And be sure to join Ken, along with John Carlson, on "The Commentators", which airs every weekday from 3-6 p.m. on AM 570 KVI.

It's a lively exchange of information, insight and perspective with two guys who don't agree on much, but still manage to enjoy each other as they tackle issues of the day. Even better, callers are invited in on the verbal action.
