The Schrammie: Shame on you, media

The Schrammie: Shame on you, media

This week's "Schrammie" is a little more vague then I'd like, but that doesn't make the award any less deserving.

I'd like any and all members of the media who've been harping about certain aspects of Gov. Sarah Palin's personal life to step up and be held accountable.

It is incredibly offensive that there is any level of media debate over Palin's ability to be vice president if that debate centers on her having recently given birth to a child with Down syndrome, or that her teenage daughter is several months pregnant.

I want to be real clear here.

Palin's political background is absolutely fair game.

I believe she's already deliberately misled and pandered to people with her statement about earmarks.

She's under an ethical investigation for reportedly abusing the power and authority of her office.

In short, Palin's political life deserves to be closely scrutinized.

But the cheap, tawdry, sexist questions and issues being raised in association with her personal life have a Jerry Springer quality to them.

Too many in the mainstream media are too willing to take the low road.

And the highlight of my day is to give all of them this week's "Schrammie."
