Ken Schram: GOP can't have it both ways

By Ken Schram

SEATTLE -- Uh-oh, Oprah.

Seems a growing number of Republican women are having a hissy fit over the fact that Oprah Winfrey says she has no intention of interviewing Gov. Sarah Palin between now and the November election.

The queen mother of daytime talk says that after endorsing Barack Obama last year, she made it clear that she wouldn't be using her TV show to promote political candidates.

Of course, this has Republicans screeching that Oprah's decision just underscores how much the media is biased against them.

Never mind the fact that McCain campaign officials have gone to great lengths to insulate Sarah Palin from the media, keeping her sequestered and declining 99% of the requests to interview her.

Since the McCain camp is obviously worried that Palin doesn't have the gravitas to deal with serious journalists, I personally think her TV debut should be on Late Night with David Letterman.

I figure she could easily handle the Top 10 list and maybe do some fake moose hunting with a paintball gun.

Be that as it may, I think this conservative dust-up over Oprah not being interested in interviewing Palin just shows how superficial Republicans want to keep this campaign.
