Ken Schram: McCain finally brought his "A" game
By Ken Schram
I don't mean to be a contrarian.
Sometimes it just turns out that way. I thought John McCain showed up with his "A" game in the final presidential debate. He was a little flustered off the top, but for most of 90 minutes I think he was direct and assertive as opposed to diffused and aggressive. I thought Barack Obama did a decent job but came across as being very conscious of the polls that are saying he's close to coasting into the White House. Obama seemed more intent on not screwing up than in covering new ground. I say this not because i support John McCain. I don't. I say it because it occurred to me that if the John McCain we saw Wednesday night had been around for the entire campaign, the voting public would be much better off. More substance from McCain over the past few months would have brought more substance from Obama. I don't place a lot of faith in polls, even when they validate what I'd like to believe. So I'm not willing to concede the election to Obama before the American public has even had a chance to vote. What I will concede is that McCain finally brought his "A" game to a debate. And in many circles, that makes me a contrarian. --- Have something to say to Ken? Login or signup below to post a comment. Just be sure to read the rules and keep things civil.
