The Schrammie: A hapless crusader
Is it the funniest, bunniest book ever?

Or is it the dark specter of suicide being fostered off on unsuspecting teenagers?

And so it is that I turn to one Taffey Anderson, a hapless crusader who steadfastly believes that the book "Bunny Suicides" should be banned or burned.

Much to her horror, Taffey's teenage son checked the cartoon book out from his high school library in Halsey, Oregon.

Mortified at the 19 pages comically dedicated to a bunny's make-believe descent into depression and suicide, Taffey proclaimed the book to be inappropriate for anyone and everyone, but most assuredly keep it away from teenagers.

So Taffey confiscated the book, refusing to return it to the high school library.

She says she'll burn it before she allows another teenager to be exposed to the horror of bunny suicide!

In speaking with her, Taffey told me that she can envision other suitably mortified mothers marching into high school libraries everywhere; snatching offensive books from the shelves quicker than you can say "Fahrenheit 451."

So for her self-assumed role of censor and protector of cartoon bunnies, I would like to invite Taffey Anderson to take a bow because this (flame retardant) "Schrammie" is for you.
