They don't know exactly how much it'll cost.
Even if they did, they haven't got the money.
But what the hey, it's an idea they voted to support anyway.
So would all six members of the Seattle City Council who said "whoopee" to a citywide network of streetcars, get on track and come on down?
Here we are in the throes of a debilitating economic crisis only to find the esteemed city council looking to spend hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars on a transportation fantasy.
Never mind that the city can't afford to hire the police that are needed; never mind that social services are getting cut faster then locks of hair at a barber's convention; never mind the pot holes or the city parks.
Let's everyone just clap hands and yell "goody" at the half-dozen elected Seattle officials who see streetcars in the future.
So for vision that is more myopic that majestic; for delusions of further mining the taxpayer's pocket, and for being simply being oblivious to political priorities, all six of you council folk - bow in unison, because this Schrammie is for you.
