The 'Schrammie' goes to: An absent elections director

Well, this week's "Schrammie" proves that being out of sight doesn't have to mean being out of mind.

Of course, on everyone's mind is the big election that just about 3 weeks away.

Well, almost everyone's.

I seriously doubt if it's on the mind of King County's interim elections director.

So: Just where is the man who's responsible for making sure there's no repeat of King County's 2004 election mess?

I'll tell you where: gallivanting on the other side of the world, enjoying a European vacation.

I thought about tracking Jim Buck down in Venice to ask him if all the absentee ballots are ready to go. Maybe I should've tried catching up with him in Rome to inquire if the voter's guides are all printed.

All I know is that he'd scooted out of Paris before our paths could cross, and before he might have at least TRIED to explain why the interim King County Elections Director won't even be back at his desk until October 25th.

So…

For failing to realize that even the quarterback doesn't go to Disneyland until AFTER the big game…

For not taking your job seriously enough to actually stay here and do it…

And for letting King County voters know exactly what you think of this election…

Take a bow Jim Buck, 'cause this "Schrammie's" for you.
