Paraphrasing the not quite legions of people who disagree with
my take on the new Seattle library rules: I am a whiny bleeding heart liberal moron with no common sense whatsoever.
Such a bleak assessment comes from my saying that I see the library setting rules that specifically target the poor and homeless.
Dave Kuper writes: "I think there should (also) be hygiene standards for libraries... I... want to use the library but when confronted by the smell of the usual patron, I am driven away."
Rick Ward: "As long as we let those who cannot take care of themselves run free like stray cats, no public place will be free of... lewd behavior, drunkenness and assault."
Emily Davidson: "You obviously don't get to the downtown library very often... I once ran to the restroom thinking I was about to vomit when one absolutely filthy man took off his shoes... The stench was beyond description."
And finally, from Andy Miller: "I hate them. I hate the way they smell. I hate the way they look. I hate the way they don't care... I applaud anything the library does to drive them out."
Wow, Andy.
Might I suggest on your next library visit you check out a Dr. Phil book on anger management?
Thanks for writing everyone.
Have a great weekend.
