Ken's Commentary: Watada has his supportive fans

SEATTLE - Ehren Watada has his supportive fans.

I'm not one of them.

The central theme of a recent commentary was centered on why he seems to have a growing number of supporters. (Read commentary here.)

Why make him the "poster child" of the anti-war movement?

Tara Jensen writes: "As someone who was an Army wife...and knows what it's like to comfort a (young) widow suddenly left to raise two...children alone, I congratulate and wholeheartedly support...Watada's decision."

Paul McLeod: "You don't have to be a lawyer or a constitutional scholar to know this was is based on...revenge and control of oil resources...get your head out of your anus, Ken."

Susan Arndt: "Your comments about...Watada are unfair and mean spirited...I think (your commentary) is shallow, lazy and not really worthy of the time I just spent writing to you."

Cyrus Kim: "Hey Schram -- do you have a piece of a brain...Watada is a sensitive young man who realized (the war is wrong)...He has a constitutional right to refuse (fighting in a war that violates international law.")

Tina Gianoulis: "I find your commentary to be shrill and pointless....(Watada) has taken a brave stand against a war that will go down in history as both illegal and stupid."

Carlton Tiffin: "Watada's actions somewhat exceed the capacity of a forum best suited to small town gruntings...on small time trivia."

With that, I'll grunt a thank you to everyone who wrote.

Hope you have a good weekend.

Have something to say to Ken? E-mail him at kenschram@komo4news.com.

And be sure to join Ken, along with John Carlson, on "The Commentators", which airs every weekday from 9-Noon on AM 570 KVI.

It's a lively exchange of information, insight and perspective with two guys who don't agree on much, but still manage to enjoy each other as they tackle issues of the day. Even better, callers are invited in on the verbal action.
