The world is all but going to hell in a hand basket and yet local governments are still obsessed with how female baristas are dressed, or undressed, at drive through espresso stands.
The latest kerfuffle is taking place up in Everett.
Officials there are
considering a change in the city's lewd conduct ordinance that would sort of, kind of, force a more modest approach to dispensing latte's and such.
Seems the city's been swamped with at least a couple of calls a week from people complaining about what female baristas are wearing and, in some instances, how they're behaving.
The city council is mulling over the notion that even though lewd behavior is already a misdemeanor no-no, maybe there should be specific language that spells out just what is lewd and where it shouldn't be allowed.
Are we going to be passing new laws for every quirky type of behavior that occurs?
I find it incredibly sad that as communities grapple with teen violence, gun violence, gang violenece and domestic violence; as we wrestle with local issues involving education, parks and libraries, the Everett City Council is all wound up over baristas.
Yep, the world's going to hell in a hand basket, and local politicians in Everett are choosing to worry about some cleavage.
