No pasties with pastries.

That was pretty much the theme in the e-mails I got that disagreed with my criticizing the Everett City Council.

I took the council to task for looking to beef up the lewdness ordinance because of complaints about how female baristas are dressed, or undressed, in some drive-through espresso stands.

Mary E. Lee writes: "Don't you think allowing (women) to serve coffee in a nearly nude state is part of the gang, prostitution, drug and any other underworld...problem that we face these days?"

Judy, the prude in Kent: "Whores are whores. I had so hoped that women had advanced to the point where selling their bodies - visually or literally - was a thing of the past."

Tamara Ching: "These girls are not just wearing bikinis...their intent is to sexually arouse (customers) in order to get bigger tips and more business."

Patrick Campell: "It's not just a little cleavage. You should check things out before you talk."

And finally from Barbara Stoddard: "Know why you defend baristas wearing such skimpy outfits? Because you're a filthy, disgusting, lecherous pervert. In other words, you are a typical male."

And on top of all that Barbara, I drink a lot of coffee.
