My continued support for gay rights annoys some people no end.
Such is the case with
my advocating for the passage of Referendum 71, which would keep in place what's been called the "everything but marriage" law.
Cynthia Becker writes: "This...is not a civil issue, it's a moral issue...No matter how you try to dress it up...homosexual relationships are unnatural and detestable..."
Lois Casimes: "Will people who support equal rights for gay partners also support equal rights for consenting adults in incestuous relationships...What about transsexuals who want a husband and a wife?"
Tony McNamara: "To get these so-called rights, the old and the gay can simply register, but straights have to pay a marriage tax? Be fair Ken."
Sean Cowley: "You're pitiful Schram. Who appointed you as guardian of the godless homosexuals...They gave up any rights when they chose their perverted lifestyle..."
Ryan Roth: "R-71 is bad legislation. We don't need laws that give certain rights to only specific people...What about heterosexual (couples that) choose not to marry?"
Well Ryan, that's the point. Heterosexuals have the choice.
Gays and lesbians don't.
At least not yet.
Thanks for writing everyone.
Have a great weekend.
