I received some interesting rebukes on my tirade over Sound Transit looking to hire someone willing to be an artistic overseer for a plywood construction wall that'll soon be going up on Capitol Hill.

Paige Baumgartner writes: "How would you like to look out your front or back window every day at a huge construction site and a 6-foot chain link fence? You are wrong. Again."

Phil Rodist: "Come on, Schram...It's an inconsequential amount of money for something to brighten the day of everyone who will pass by that site...What have you got against art?"

Henry Cummings: "Fill the space with art and you'll discourage graffiti. Makes sense to me."

Joy the art major: "I've learned that an artist can either cater to the masses or kowtow to the elite...You, Mr. Schram, are an elitist."

Emily Sanders: "For a mere '10-freakin' thousand dollars', you would steal from the community a potential treasure...I'll take an expression of beauty and talent any day over your expression of narrow-mindedness and ignorance.

And finally, from Josh Osborne: "Shut up and stick to what you know, Schram: Crayons and construction paper."

I'm working on a self-portrait even as we speak, Josh. Thanks for the encouragement.

And thanks for writing everyone.

Have a great weekend.
