Ken Schram: Lock up the parents
Seems the question on a lot of lips this week is "What's wrong with kids these days?"
There's the 14-year-old boy charged with beating a 56-year-old female metro bus driver unconscious because the driver didn't open the back door fast enough.
There's the 14-year-old girl who police say sent a naked picture of herself to her boyfriend.
After they broke up, police report the boy forwarded the photo to friends who in turn sent it on to other teens.
The picture wound up being sent to dozens of students in four different middle schools, and now three teens are facing charges of child pornography.
Then there's the 8-year-old Port Orchard boy who was taken into custody for assaulting his mother.
While talking with a police officer, the kid went after the cop and reportedly threatened to kill his brother because everything was really the brother's fault.
I don't have the answer to what's wrong with kids these days, any more than I have the answer to what is wrong with parents.
But I'll tell you this: If I were king of the world I'd be throwing moms and dads in prison a hell of a lot faster than putting their brats behind bars.
And I wouldn't let them out until they were well past child bearing age.
