Schram: Taking on rampaging bureacratics and rabbits
What say we wrap up the week with some short takes on few issues.
The city of Seattle can't seem to figure out what to do about all the big issues it faces, but there was no bureaucratic hesitation when it came to slapping some woman around because of her garden.
With one anonymous complaint to work on, a city code inspector has decreed that a lush Eastlake home garden creates a "very real and dangerous corner."
The green-thumbed gardener has been told to weed-whack it or face hundreds of dollars in fines.
There's enough B.S. in that decision to fertilize a whole neighborhood worth of gardens!
My mail-in ballot came Thursday and I wasted no time.
I made my choices, stuck a stamp on the envelope and into the mailbox it went.
I mention this only because I wanted to follow up on something I talked about after the special legislative session finally ended.
I said I would not vote for any incumbent seeking re-election to the state Legislature.
I didn't.
And finally, National Park officials on San Juan Island are thinking about hiring hunters to come and kill off some rampaging rabbits.
Park Ranger Elmer Fudd says it's the only way to deal with the wascally cweatures.
Have a great weekend.
