Schram: No reason to sling mud at McKenna to see if it sticks
»Play Video
SEATTLE -- I've heard rumors that a teenaged Rob McKenna once lied about his age in order to get into an "R" rated movie.
There's also speculation that McKenna once defiantly fed geese at Green Lake despite a clearly visible sign that said don't feed the geese.
Hey, if McKenna's alleged dirty laundry is going to be aired, let's let it all flap in the wind.
I'm referring to some ethical complaints that have been filed against the Republican candidate for governor.
There's the contention that back in the early 90's, McKenna once used a King County fax machine to send out a Republican flier!
And that while he was on the King County Council he may have talked politics (gasp!) during staff meetings.
Holy crap!
I don't know about you, but I really dislike petty political antics.
I'm more concerned about Rob McKenna's opposition to marriage equality than I am about whether some boxes of campaign materials were accidentally left among his archived King County records.
There are serious issues in our state that need serious attention.
I just don't see the value of slinging mud solely for the purpose of seeing if it sticks.
And that's exactly how I see these so-called "ethical complaints."
