The Schrammie: A rimshot for Conlin

The proposed site for the new arena just south of Safeco Field is seen in this aerial image.
He could be the meanest man in town.

And he might actually be in the running for the meanest man in the world.

So if Seattle City Councilman Richard Conlin would step back from the foul line, I'd like him to practice his verbal lay-up.

Actually, Richard has already been working on his jump shot, having jumped right into the middle of the fray over the proposed arena deal designed to bring an NBA team back to Seattle.

Richard has unilaterally declared the deal will die with a city council vote.

That's because Richard has officiously concluded that any new arena should not be propped up with public investment.

He wants the entire check written by Chris Hansen and crew.

Richard took an oral free throw with his condescending remark that having an NBA team back would be a "good thing," but hit the rim by prematurely proclaiming that his voice speaks for everyone who has a say in the decision.

So...for his audacity; for making up his mind before all the information is available; for jumping the shark and the gun, I'd like city councilman Richard Conlin to take a bow, because this Schrammie is for him.
