Viewers to Ken: Archbishop shouldn't get 'Schrammie'
Some strong objection to my giving Seattle Archbishop J. Peter Sartain this week's “Schrammie.”
I didn't agree with his using more than 180 churches under his guidance as a "step up and sign the petition to help overturn our state's recently passed marriage equality law."
Father Jim Northrop writes: "Archbishop Sartain is a good man and I am very happy he is taking a stand for the dignity of marriage and the role it has ... in the church and in society."
John Campbell: "How is Ref. 74 meant to kill the marriage equality law. ... I’ll bet you have only empty words of accusation and nothing to back them up."
Johnnie R. McDermott: "I don't think most of us Catholics oppose equal civil status or rights for those live in same sex unions, but we also do not think those unions ... should be called marriage."
Karen Ryan: "The petition was in the entry to the church and was an option if anyone wanted to sign. ... Your comments about the Archbishop ticked me off ...."
And finally, from Rich Smith: "Please Ken, leave the Catholic Church. ... Your constant attack on the laws ... of the church make you a toxic and bitter man."
Funny thing Rich, I just don't see myself in that way at all.
I can be pretty stubborn, though.
Thanks for writing, everyone.
Have a great weekend.
