I went up to the Rockport Eagle Festival this past Saturday expecting many of the birds to still be there feeding on the salmon. According to the personnel at the hatchery at Marblemount, the recent rains washed most of the salmon carcasses away and so many of the birds have left. People can still see a few that have decided to hang around, but the vast majority of the birds have moved on. This bird is about three years old, as they don't get their full white head and tail feathers until about age five.
