Road to Paradise to reopen
By Associated PressASHFORD, Wash. (AP) - The primary access road to Paradise in Mount Rainier National Park will reopen Saturday. The road had been closed for several weeks by avalanche danger and storm damage. Last week, heavy rains also resulted in a landslide that took out about 100 feet of one lane. Acting Park Superintendent Randy King said Thursday that flaggers will control travel through the damaged area. Weather permitting, the road from Longmire to Paradise will be open on weekends and holiday throughout the winter. Weekday visitors may travel only as far as Longmire. |
