BROOKINGS, Ore. (AP) - The U.S. Coast Guard rescued a 15-year-old boy from a cliff near Chetco River along the southern Oregon coast.

Petty Officer Kelly Parker said Monday that the boy and two other people became trapped by the tide late Sunday afternoon and called for help.

The two others managed to climb to safety on their own, but a Coast Guard helicopter had to hoist the 15-year-old from the cliff.

The crew took him to Brookings Airport, where he was met by local authorities.
