NEW YORK - Ticket sellers for Sunday's NFC championship game between the Seahawks and 49ers are not only asking for more than $600 a seat, they're getting it.

Outside of the Super Bowl, "it's actually the most expensive NFL game in two years," says Connor Gregoire with New York reseller Seatgeek.com.

He says tickets for the game at CenturyLink Field are averaging more than $660 each. That price reflects actual sales, not wishful thinking.

"That average price reflects tickets that have been sold, rather than the asking price," Gregoire says. "Tickets that are listed for tens of thousands of dollars but aren't selling are not factored in to that average ticket price."

Seatgeek.com and other sites including the official NFL Ticket Exchange also offer less expensive seats, but not much less.

"Even to just get in the nosebleeds at CenturyLink Field, it's going to cost you almost $400 per ticket," Gregoire says.

By comparison, he says, tickets to the Broncos-Patriots AFC championship game in Denver average $601, with the cheapest seats going for $250 each.

The high demand for the Seattle game reflects several factors, Gregoire says, including the fierce Hawks-Niners rivalry and the two cities' relatively close geographic proximity,

He also cites the Seahawks' decision to shut out California fans from those original Ticketmaster sales last Friday.

Interest from California fans accounts for more than 30 percent of Seat Geek's web traffic this week on its NFC championship game page, Gregoire says.
